Sunny Wednesday

Even though it's super windy right now, it's sunny and not freezing, so I am happy!

I went up to snow camp this weekend to be the camp cook.  I haven't done a lot with the youth group in a while, so it was really fun to be involved again!  My favorite part is playing games all day in the lodge.  Even though it means late nights and some hard work, it's also a really great time to get away from everything.

I feel like we are barely making it through this week.  I came home from snow camp on Sunday to two sick boys, each with nasty cold and pink eye!  How I haven't got pink eye, I still haven't figured out.  Actually they are both doing much better today, but Emmett is still coughing.  Poor little kid.  We're doing everything we can for him, but we just can't get it to go away.

Even through his sickness, Emmett is still keeping me on my toes.  He's been letting himself outside and this morning made it out to the driveway.  (I have a feeling that "someone" forgot to latch the gate when he left for class.)  I even lock the doors, but he knows how to unlock one of them.  I don't know what I am going to do with this kid.

Only a few more days of February!  Then we are on to March and hopefully more spring weather!!

Brent ran on an errand this afternoon and I guess someone wanted to go with him.  He let himself out the back door, and was working on the gate latch when I looked through the kitchen window and saw him.  He managed to get a hat and some sunglasses, but no pants, socks or shoes.  Hmmm...interesting.  And, actually that hat much brighter in person!

   

valentine's weekend

We had a pretty good weekend, despite having two sickies around here.  Emmett recently received a very fun gift from his Aunt Stephanie...Matchbox cars and racing tracks!  We spent a lot of time setting the track up around the house and watching the cars fly across the floors.  Here are a few photos of our fun...

           

Saturday night Brent and I watched "The Secret Life of Bees."  Exciting, I know.  Sunday we spent doing a whole lot of nothing, which felt great!

We've been busy these days, coordinating both of our work schedules.  It seems to be working great though.  Emmett comes to my mom's with me if Brent works early and if he works later then Emmett gets to stay home until I come home.  And, as much as Brent likes his new job, we kind of thought the days of working a varied schedule were over.  We visited him this evening for a little bit.  I'm not sure Emmett knew what to think of Daddy standing behind the counter.  Quite frankly, I didn't know what to think of the guy he was working with that was wearing make-up. 

Emmett seems to be coming down with a cold today.  He struggled last night and has had a runny nose all day.  Yuck.  Now we are both tired!

And, as seems to be the trend with him, he's picking up new abilities everyday.  Now he is in to "on" and "off".  Turning lights on and off.  Getting on a chair and then getting off.  (Although sometimes that one is up or down.)  And calling Brent by his first name.  It sounds like "Benton" and sometimes "Button."  I don't remember teaching him these things.

This is the first season of American Idol that I have been into, probably because we only get basic channels now.  And I have some favorites, but there are a lot and I can't always remember everyone.  (The blind guy, the oil rigger, and the church music teacher.)  I have also been enjoying the show after it called "Fringe."  Totally weird and really not something I normally like, but for some reason I am drawn to it!

 - Chipper Jones, he plays for the Atlanta Braves.  I was in love with him in HS and so my dad took me to a game when they were playing in LA and we stayed in their hotel.  I still have our picture in a frame, but Brent won't let me display it.

I have been working a lot these past few days.  It's only part time, but it feels like I'm gone a lot more than that.  In a way it feels nice to get out of the house and do my own thing, but I feel like I'm missing out on Emmett a little bit.  Being away from him sure makes me appreciate the time I have with him.  It also seems like there is no time to procrastinate.  When something has to be done, I have to get it done right then or it won't happen for a week!  I don't know how moms that work full time handle everything!  And next week Brent starts working, so we will have a lot of schedule stuff to figure out.   I know we'll get into a routine of sorts, but it will take some planning.  By the way, I do have to mention that Brent has been great about keeping up with the housework.  I think everyday I have started a load of laundry and by the time I get home it's at least dried, maybe folded and put away.  I'm still a little surprised at how well we are handling all of this change.
