The fun this week continues. Brent got it in his mind that he wanted to take Emmett camping in the backyard and I couldn't talk it out of it. (Not that I tried.) Once they put up the tent, we could hardly get Emmett away from it. I don't think he really understood that he got to sleep in it all night.
We started off the night with ice cream sundaes, complete with homemade chocolate and strawberry sauces.
Who goes camping without watching a movie before going to sleep?
Modern day camping.
(Saying Good-Night through the top of the tent.)
We'll see how long they last. I will be surprised if it's all night.

Tonight Brent, Emmett and I met up with our old youth group at the skating rink. This is the same skating rink that I think all of us Yakima kids hung out at some point. I have fond memories of 6th grade skating parties. And of course, the entire place looks and smells exactly the same. Anyhoo...on to our night. I really wasn't sure how Emmett would do, but he seemed to have a lot of fun. He was pretty quiet around all the big kids. The little tiny skates were so cute on him!
We spent a lot of time holding his hand and walking around the lobby. We also spent a little time in the kiddie area.
And he even made it out the big rink with some people from the church.
We had a really fun time. When we left he kept talking about "racing". And the "boots" that he wore on his feet. Too funny. I am so glad he is at the age that we can do stuff like this with him!

We have been LOVING this warm weather. Emmett and I have been spending a lot of time outside the past few days. Last week I got a popsicle mold, so I made some for him over the weekend. All I did was take a bunch of fruit (watermelon, strawberries, mango, and some pineapple) and blended them up. Then just poured them in the mold and waited until they froze solid. So yummy! The only thing I have to remember is to track down the plastic stick when he's done eating one. Sunday afternoon we played at the Futrells for a little while. The kids ran through a sprinkler and drove around the kids' jeep. As hard as he tries, Emmett can't say jeep, he says "dreep". He loves that thing. Only 11 months until he's 3 and gets his own.
We had to revert back and give Emmett his bink. He hadn't napped for 2 1/2 weeks, nor had he slept through the night. I really had to decide that taking away the bink wasn't worth the aftermath. We were all exhausted, fighting, he was getting in trouble all the time and just wasn't his happy go-lucky self anymore. So Saturday morning I took him to Target and let him pick some out. Since then, he's been napping 2-3 hours and sleeping all night again. I finally have my little boy back! Still all over the place, but at least he's happy.
We are also really liking our new church. I signed up to do a Bible study this summer. Beth Moore's "Esther." I really don't like doing things like this by myself, not knowing anyone, but I think it will be really good. I've never done a Beth Moore before and am really looking forward to it.
And lastly, Brent is enjoying his new job. Most of his patients are little old ladies, that eat up his charming personality! He also got transferred to the Chalet starbucks, which is a huge blessing. He'll continue to work there about 10-12 hours a week (just enough to make it worth it). Emmett and I have a lot more fun visiting him there because he can run around on the grass instead of being confined to a table.
Ok, now its time to get Brent's breakfast and lunch ready for tomorrow. And hopefully he'll be home soon!

Still super busy around here. One piece of major good news is that Brent got hired at Living Care! He has spent the last 6-weeks taking their traning course and ended up with a position in the RA. I'm not sure what RA stands for, but it has to do with physical therapy. Much better experience than some of the other options. His first real day is Saturday and will hopefully get a more regular schedule next week.
Emmett has been keeping us on our toes around here too! He's a curious little boy with amazing problem solving skills. Not a good combination for my sanity! If he decides he wants to do something, he finds a way. I found him in the front yard this morning due to a missing board in our fence. I have no idea how the board came off, but of course, he found the opening right away. Some of the other things he has done I am reluctant to say because I don't want to be thought of as a negligent mother. (Something about a 2-year-old taking the lid off of children's advil and helping himself to a dose doesn't sound very good.) (Or taking off through the orchard at my mom's house and heading to the neighbors.) (Or removing the outlet covers and plugging in my mixer that I store on a low shelf in the corner of the kitchen and turning it on.) He's just always 4 or 5 steps ahead of me. And when I say with a sigh "Oh Emmett!" he replies "Oh Mommy!" What a kid.

Another busy week and weekend. I haven't spend more than a few minutes (other than sleeping) with Brent since Thursday night and I am going a little crazy! I actually don't even know if Thursday is the last time we've spent time together, but I'm pretty sure it is. We have both been working a lot and opposite schedules at that. The nice thing is that at least Emmett has had some time with just daddy.
Emmett has been acting his age lately. I don't like the phrase "terrible twos" because I don't think he is terrible. His behavoir, on the other hand, is leaving a lot to be desired. He pulled a bunch of keys off my keyboard, and now my spacebar takes a little more effort. So, if you two words together that shouldn't be, that's why. He also took off to the neighbors while we were working at my mom's the other day. Through the orchard that is. And we decided to take away the bink. They had become gross and all of them were starting to get holes. I had told myself that as soon as they got that way, it was time for them to go becasue I wasn't going to buy him new ones. So, I showed them all to him and told him they were broken and we couldn't use them anymore. The first two nights were awful, but he is doing much better now. He still asks for them and then says "bink bwoken." We had his 2-year check and he is a healthy little boy. 30.8 lbs and 34.5 inches tall.
Yesterday (Saturday) Mom, Becky and I headed to Portland to do a little shopping with Rachael. I actually got to spend a few hours with my good friend Shannon and her little one Sophia. We always have a great time, even if it is just eating lunch and walking around the mall. As soon as they left, I set out to find my mom and sisters (no easy task, mind you!) As I was looking around Macys, the power went out. I'll admit that I was a teensy bit scared, but after about 10 seconds it came back on. Then about a half an hour later, it went out again. Fortunately I had found everyone by then. It never came back on, so we had to leave a little earlier than we had planned. I think we all had fun though.
Today was relaxing. Brent worked all day (literally). Emmett has a green nose, so we stayed home from church. This afternoon he got to play with grandpa while I went to a very fun baby shower. Emmett and made a yummy dinner, split a diet root beer and he is in bed alseep. Now I get to spend some much needed time with my hubby who just got home!
