We have been having a lot of fun the past few days. Last week when it was super hot we swam almost everyday at my mom's. Usually a few of the cousins were there too which made it even more fun. Emmett started out being really unsure of the water. Once he got in though, he was in love. I can hardly keep him out of the pool if we are there! I got him a swimming vest that works pretty well. He has to keep his legs moving to keep himself up, which is good and bad. Sometimes he gets tired easily, so I have to help him. He loves jumping off the side in the shallow end and even braved the diving board a couple of times while holding my hand!
After seeing how much fun painting canvases is, I decided to get some supplies so that we could do it more. I did a couple myself that I might hang in the bathroom. They didn't turn out like I thought they would, but they aren't all bad. Emmett is having a great time painting and even got to have Ella and Roc over last week to do it too.
Our holiday weekend was fun and relaxing. We spent the afternoon and evening out at Brent's mom's house. We got in a little more swimming time and lots of sun. After a bbq dinner we broke out the sparklers for the kids.
Emmett loved them, of course! (I remember being a little afraid of them when I was a kid). And that evening we watched the fireworks at the fairgrounds from the comfort of the back porch. He loved those too!
Finally, yesterday we headed to Spokane for our friend Leigh's memorial service. I am really glad I went. It was a great service and we got to spend a good amount of time with Andrew. He comforted me more than I did him, but I guess that's what I needed. We also got to spend some time with his and her family at a dinner later that evening. It wasn't a "fun" night, but I also don't think it could have gone any better!
Today I am playing catch-up from being busy the last few days. And I have a little boy who doesn't feel good, but has just enough energy to be a serious grump. Fun. I am wondering if he's getting molars, so we are rotating Tylenol and Motrin. He's finally down for a nap, so I'm hoping to get some stuff done this afternoon!
