Christmas Week!

Wow, this week came fast.  Christmas always comes with much anticipation and this year is no exception.  Yesterday we took Emmett to see Santa at a nursery here in town.  Seeing Santa wasn't a priority to me, but the nursery was doing a fund-raiser for a sick teenager, so we decided it would be worth a try.  After waiting in line for at least 30 minutes, it was our turn.  Emmett reacted exactly like I would have at that age, and I'm not a bit surprised.  (Ok, I think if he had been feeling better, he might have enjoyed meeting Santa.)  Fortunately I know what he wants for Christmas!  ;)

 

Emmett isn't one to really ask for things or say what he wants, but a couple of times during these past few weeks, he has told me that he wants a Buzz Lightyear.  I had already got him his main Christmas present, but then I decided that if I could find a Buzz, then I would get it for him.  (And save his other main present for his birthday.)  So today at Fred Meyer, I thought I would look and see what they had.  I found a Buzz and a Woody, both "actual movie size."  Even though they were both on sale and there was an extra coupon in the ad, the were a little bit of a splurge.  But I know he will love them and it will be worth it.  I mean, isn't getting your kid something you know they really want the whole point?

We are looking forward to lots of family time this week.  Girls night Wednesday, wrapping with Rachael, and get-togethers with some long lost friends!

Snow Day

Since we had the first snow of the season yesterday, Emmett and I holed up at home and relaxed.  He was pretty excited about the snow and kept running around to all of the windows to look at it.

 

 Emmett did a whole lot of playing.  Most of the toys had been sorted through in hopes of being put away, but he pretty much undid all that I did.  Except that most of the upstairs toys are now upstairs and the downstairs toys are now all downstairs.

After play time, he had to have a bath.  (It had been one day too long because he had a fever the night before.)  If he was a school-going kid, he would have been the stinky one!

Then it started snowing again.

 

So we decided to have a little snack.  Pumpkin Cranberry bread (that I made in a 8x11 pan instead of a loaf pan, so it looks more like cake) smeared with a little cream cheese frosting and a cup of coffee (in a Christmas mug no less.  It tastes better that way).  Although, Emmett wasn't feeling great, so he didn't partake.

And we turned the lights on the (sparsely decorated) Christmas Tree.

We ended the day with a not-so-quick trip to Costco with Brent (the driving part wasn't quick, but the Costco part was) and dinner with Grandma and Grandpa.
  
 
  
 

December 1st

I am so excited for the Christmas season!  I remember two years ago I loved experiencing Emmett's first Christmas with him.  (Although he didn't seem to notice a lot.)  And last year he was a little more aware that something special was going on around him.  This year, however, I think it will be even more fun.  I have a few Christmas activities that I hope we can do in the next few weeks.  I'm going to try and have as much fun with him as I can and not stress about any details!

Yesterday afternoon we put up his little tree, like we did last year.  He was so excited as we were taking it out of the box he could hardly stand still.  And, once we got it decorated, he kept yelling to Brent that we put ornaments on his tree.  So far he is having a great time with it.  I pretty much let him do whatever he wants with his ornaments.  He's really into matching right now, so he's grouping 'like' ornaments together.  It might be hard for me not to re-hang them all after he goes to bed each night.  ;)
